Neurodivergence Training
Awareness Becoming Understanding
This training is for organisations who genuinely want to understand and accommodate the needs of neurodivergent people. It is not tick-box training.
It’s grounded in lived and professional experience of neurodivergence, over twenty years in education, and the work I do every day as a counsellor and coach supporting neurodivergent people. I work with your organisation to understand what you need and deliver training that is relevant, practical and makes a genuine difference to the people within it.
All training is tailored to your setting and the needs of your team. Sessions typically last between one and three hours, depending on the topic and what your organisation is looking for. Training can be delivered in person or online.
For Schools, Colleges and Universities
Education settings are often where neurodivergent young people first encounter environments that weren’t designed for the way their brain works. Staff who understand neurodivergence can make a positive difference to how those young people experience education, how they feel about themselves and what they achieve.
Training I offer for education settings includes:
Understanding ADHD, Autism and AuDHD A practical introduction to how ADHD, autism and AuDHD present in young people, what’s happening beneath the behaviour, and what actually helps in a classroom or pastoral setting.
How to Support Neurodivergent Students in Schools Moving beyond general awareness towards practical approaches that reduce overwhelm, support regulation, and create an environment where neurodivergent students can learn without having to mask to get through the day.
Being Compliant with the Equality Act 2010 Understanding your legal obligations and how to be proactive in navigating reasonable adjustments for neurodivergence in a meaningful rather than minimal way. Practical, grounded, and focused on what this looks like in an education setting.
Creating a Neuroaffirmative Environment What it means to move from tolerance to genuine inclusion, and how small shifts in language, environment and expectations can make a real difference for neurodivergent students and staff.
For Workplaces
Neurodivergent employees often describe feeling like they have to work twice as hard to fit into systems that weren’t built for them. For organisations that want to genuinely support their neurodivergent staff, understanding what neurodivergence actually is and how it shows up in the workplace is the starting point.
Training I offer for workplaces includes:
Understanding ADHD, Autism and AuDHD What neurodivergence looks like in adults, how it affects day-to-day working life, and why many of the assumptions we make about performance, communication and behaviour can lead to neurodivergent employees being misunderstood or overlooked.
Being Compliant with the Equality Act 2010 Understanding your obligations around reasonable adjustments for neurodivergent colleagues and clients, and how to have those conversations in a way that’s respectful, practical and genuinely supportive.
Creating a Neuroaffirmative Environment Exploring what an inclusive workplace actually looks like for neurodivergent people, from recruitment and onboarding through to day-to-day working culture. Practical steps that go beyond policy documents.
Understanding Stress How stress affects us, why it can show up differently for different people, and what organisations can do to support staff wellbeing in a meaningful way.
For Counsellors and Therapists
Neurodivergent clients may describe previous experiences of therapy where they felt misunderstood, where their neurodivergence wasn’t recognised or was mistaken for something else. As awareness around neurodivergence increases, there’s a growing need for therapists to feel confident and informed when working with neurodivergence.
Training I offer for counsellors and therapists includes:
Welcoming Neurodivergence into the Therapeutic Space Exploring what neuroaffirming practice looks like, how to adapt your approach for neurodivergent clients, and how to create a therapeutic environment where neurodivergent people feel genuinely understood.
Understanding ADHD, Autism and AuDHD Building your knowledge of how neurodivergence presents in adults and young people, what this means for the therapeutic relationship, and how to avoid common missteps that can unintentionally get in the way.
